As I sat at my desk minding my own business, my coworker strolled up to me inquiring about a current assignment. At the same time I decided to poke her belly playfully...no, don't get any weird ideas, I just don't go around poking people’s bellies...lol. Jade, along with three other ladies in my office are blessed with baby bumps and coincidentally they're all gonna be having boys.
I continued poking at Jade's belly hoping that I’d get some sort of response from her baby, we got into an interesting conversation which went like this.
Me: "Sooo how are you and your baby?"

Jade: "I'm fine and so is he"
Me: "He! You’re having a boy...yay!"
Jade: "Yep, myself and the other 2 ladies as well"
Jade: "Yep, myself and the other 2 ladies as well"
Me: "Why does it seem that you're not too excited about a boy?"
Jade: "Well, I kinda started looking at dresses, but it's all good. The other thing though is that my husband wants us to circumcise our son and I'm not too sure about it. Maybe if I was having my child in the US but I don't think I want to have it done here, if at all".
This conversation led me to my topic of choice and decided to Google some info....
I stumbled upon some interesting info on it which led me to question myself since I was considering having my son circumcised (given that I have a boy and whenever that is…:-p) and found the following.

I stumbled upon some interesting info on it which led me to question myself since I was considering having my son circumcised (given that I have a boy and whenever that is…:-p) and found the following.
Whether or not to circumcise, the pros and cons include....
*Cleanliness
*Avoids need to do it later on
*Avoids Bladder infections
*Religious reasons
*Avoiding being teased by women
*Less trouble to take care of
*Leaving nature alone
*Reduces sensation and sexual pleasure
*Protects the glans (head of penis)
*Ethical issues
I just stated the points but you all can check out the details by going on the link I supplied.Ladies and gentlemen, I want you to tell me your views on this since circumcising your baby has its pros and cons. I’m thinking yes to cleanliness, bacteria, & infections, but who am I to decide when my baby becomes a man that I cheated him of "extra sensation & sexual pleasure" as well as making the choice himself...Jus saying.

A lady I work with in my office didn't circumcise her son at birth and he eventually had to do it later on. She told me it was painful for him and that's why they had to do it. So from that story I would do it just to avoid unnecessary pain in the future and him constantly playing with himself later on in life. However, if there are some serious effects from doing it, I'll leave it.
ReplyDeleteThat's just the thing Jells, I'm not sure everyone has the pain problem when they become adults so it's a tough decision...
ReplyDelete"He eventually had to do it later"? Was his penis going to fall off? Convenience is not a reason.
ReplyDeleteScientifically keeping the skin on is supposed to increase the pleasure for women as opposed to circumcision and protect the head of the penis.
As for the infection excuse, that is only if you are nasty and lazy.
And for the ladies who laugh...that's ok, at least I don't have a fat ass and yes I can totally see the cellulite!
So ya...I actually remember when it happened to me...and I'm all fine now....really ><
ReplyDeleteanywho...thought of this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KXmcNfEFMI
Lazytrini you remembered!!!!! OMG!!! Good news..ur fine..lol
ReplyDeleteI think if I were a penis I wouldn't want to be chopped off or shortened in anyway! :p
ReplyDeleteoh gosh!!!!! Noted!!! :p
ReplyDeletesoooooo..... I have a few questions:
ReplyDelete1) Is there a measurement that defines a castration from a circumcision???
2) What if a doctor slips, does the parents have the leeway to sue the bastard even though it was their choice?
And my third and final....
3) If the child is old enough to remember these events, at what stage is this considered abuse????
:) waitttiiiiinnnnggggg..........
Ohh gyaddd...lol I keed I keed...welll Any doctors in the houseee????
ReplyDeleteAnswers...
1) Circumcision is a simple operation in which the foreskin is snipped from the penis but castration is any action, surgical, chemical, or otherwise, by which a male loses the functions of the testicles. :P
2)I would think they can sue since they're signing a contract for a circumcision to be done and not a castration..
3)Have no clue....Anyone has any answers to # 3??
@ Anonymous he didn't cut it off for convenience. He had over grown skin which was causing him pain so he had to cut it off.
ReplyDeleteohh dear *covers eyes* Well in that case I can understand it was necessary...
ReplyDeletecircumcize it! it is definitely the cleaner thing to do as far as i'm concerned. As far as reducing sexual sensitivity.. one can't miss what one never had. I don't think that sexual sensitivity should even be a justification for not circumcizing. I think it's disgusting to not be able to get rid of trapped dirt behind foreskin.. just ma view
ReplyDeleteHa! Trini T well ur very sure of what you'll do...
ReplyDeleteWell, i just had a look at the website you posted and it seems to be strongly on the No side. I wouldn't do it though. I would leave him with the decision, it isn't mine to make. Both genders get 'white stuff' that needs to be cleaned. Females certainly don't cut anything just to get out of cleaning. Guys, don't be lazy, just clean your damn penis properly.
ReplyDeleteIm all about cleanliness so circumcision it is
ReplyDeleteWell yes Kaelyz...you didn't have to think twice :P
ReplyDeletePersonally, one of the duties of a mother is to make decisions such as these for their babies for their betterment as they themselves cannot.
ReplyDeleteIn my view circumcision has more pros than cons.
*The foreskin habours alot of bacteria that are unseen and if left unclean can create some nasty infections and bad ordor.
*At times the foreskin maybe too tight and may be painful when it's time to clean it.... and it can be especially painful during sex.
*Circumcision prevents lots of infections both for the male and his sexual partners as well in the event of unprotected sex. (Imagine being a woman and getting a vaginal infection cuz ur uncircumcised mate failed to clean the creases of his foreskin. eeewwwww )
*Also, men climax alot easier than women with or without foreskin....so sexual sensitivity is not even enough of a pro for me to consider.
So i am definitely all for circumcision.....
Well yes Kristen....your points are noted!
ReplyDelete*Sighhhh* Gotta love Lisa's blogs. Hahahaha
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. Shall remember this when i have my own son.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that my blog can help a few :)
ReplyDeleteTo answer Morgan, there is a case I heard on BBC where twin boys were circumsized and due to a slip of the knife homeboy lost too much. The doctors and the parrents decided to finish the deal. They brough one up as a male and raised the other boy as a girl. Now he's thirty and in a mess due to the issues its created. That a whole other blog.
ReplyDeleteSecondly if you you teach your son to practise good hygeine he will always keep it clean and free from infection etc..(he's is more likely to get an infection from his female partner than she is to get from him) The female organ just better a harbouring bacteria.
Madducman...ouch!!!!!!!!!!And don't be throwing all the blame on us women..men do store bacteria under the foreskin..
